I’ve had both. So both, cats are very indifferent but our cat was actually very affectionate especially with my mum after my grandmother died. It was as if she knew my mum was grieving, so she officially became my mum’s cat. We’ve also had two dogs, the older one died last year in October from dementia. We referred to her as my dad’s dog because she always went over to my dad to get a pet on the head. She was never the same after my dad passed away. She went blind and deaf, then she slowly developed dementia. The younger dog is mine and she’s getting old but still acts and behaves like a puppy. Since her sister died last year we can’t leave her alone for very long because she gets very anxious. Especially when I go out she just barks and howls! She’s very sharp so I doubt she’ll be taken by dementia. Her breed is more with the organs so probably kidney failure or something similar! We’ve had animals my whole life so I can’t really choose one or the other!
